My research focuses upon legal issues in recreation and sport settings related to risk management, program development, and participant conduct. Currently, I am finishing a study that involved campus recreation administrators' level of awareness of risk issues compared to legal issues appearing in case law from campus recreational sport settings. The purpose of the study was to determine if campus recreational sport directors were concerned about the same issues appearing most frequently in published court decisions.

My interest in legal research has also impacted my teaching in that I have conducted two pedagogical studies involving content of legal courses in sport management curricula and the development of a case law teaching tool for sport law courses.
