James Ridenour is the director of the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands, housed in IU's School of Health, Physical Education & Recreation (HPER). He specializes in park management, outdoor recreation and public land-use policy and is the author of "National Parks Compromised: Pork Barrel Politics and America's Treasures." Ridenour was also the director of the National Park Service, 1989-1992 and director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, 1981-1989.
