Qualitative research of athletic training students in a CAAHEP-Accredited Athletic Training Education Program revealed that the professional socialization of second-year students is developmental in nature and includes the sub-processes of legitimation, meaningful experiential learning, and professional identity formation. Thus, a theoretical model of professional socialization of preprofessional athletic training students is presented. |
